My Favourite Traditional Artist

Sun Oct 21, 2007, 10:46 AM
There are loads of amazingly talented artists on this site to choose from. At first they would make me insanely jealous of their ability and imagination. But now I feel more like they are an inspiration to me (tacky cliché but true non the less). They are the cattle prodders that are driving me forward as I stubbornly moo and my art udders swing to and fro squirting out my creative juices so thanks guys.

Anyway my favourite traditional artist currently is ~jonny84 who is a very talented painter who uses very interesting imagery in his work making it quite fun to interpret. He also utilises humour very well which I think isn’t done enough.

And my favourite pieces are:

"Discovery, Down the Bog" [link] because it alters your perception on art and art worth and meaning. It asks questions and forces you to consider all this while you are urinating. Just a classy concept

Another great Piece is “Worst Comes to Worst”
[link]
In terms of interpretation it has split my mind and boggled both half’s. It has a collection of seemingly bizarre imagery i.e. the gold fish inside the eclipse in the eye of the gas mask. I think the futility and fragility of the goldfish is a nice contrast with the importance of the eclipse and the sign of toxic danger with the gas mask. I’ll leave you to try and interpret this orange enigma for yourselves.

Finally I am gonna choose “No Title” [link]
This is an excellent nude portrait of a buxom female. I find the body language slightly ambiguous. To me, it suggests either shame and comfort or perhaps it is a statement, that there is no comfort in shame.

Sounds interesting...interactive comics, you might like my lectures I'm getting at the moment about Non-linear-narrative, like the books you get when you make decisions at the end of the chapter and it tells you where to read next. I think you should go for it dude. I miss you guys too, not had a calzone for months!!
:iconommadon:
You can’t beat the life threatening calzones of the north east! The grease just wont b the same. Yeah yer lectures sound pretty cool. I bet you can actually stay awake for most of the way through 'em too.

Dude, your work is incredible. You've got some cool character's/scenarios that would make great animations, you should try and do some more of your animating. The images work great as they are, not meaning they dont, just probably looking at it from an animator's perspective, the change has come!!

Hope you're well!
